OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS

As an occupational therapist, I help people to add activities to their day that

give meaning and bring hope.

Working together, we will determine how you are functioning today so that we make plans that are manageable. We will focus on your strengths and what you can do going forward, rather than what you can't do. We will work towards healthy coping and participating in activities that make you feel confident, competent, and inspired.

SERVICES OVERVIEW

I offer occupational therapy assessment and treatment for adults (ages 18 and older) with mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I also work with clients who have other invisible health conditions, such as persistent pain, chronic fatigue, attention deficit disorder, or mild cognitive impairment.

As part of the comprehensive initial assessment, we will identify areas of challenge and set individualized goals that are realistic, practical, and manageable. Goals will show you specifically how to take gradual steps towards better functioning, independence, and improved quality of life.

Here are some examples of goal areas:

  • getting quality sleep

  • managing persistent pain

  • coping with stress, anxiety, and low mood

  • structuring daily activities and establishing routines

  • leaving the home for essential and leisure purposes

  • organizing home spaces and decluttering

  • returning to work or starting to volunteer

  • balancing work and family roles and responsibilities

SERVICE DELIVERY

OT services are offered virtually (via phone or video) or in-person, and the method of delivery is determined on a case-by-case basis based on individual needs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual services are the preferred method of service delivery when they can be delivered safely and effectively. In-person services can proceed for clients whose anticipated benefits outweigh the risks, and only after COVID-19 screening is completed.
